Who We Are
We are Christians who feel called to lives of servant leadership. We have a narrow focus and an audacious mission: we develop and sustain emerging Christian leaders at seminaries and divinity schools who will build a Progressive Network for justice, compassion and peace.
- We seek to support each other as we study, teach and practice the prophetic teachings of Jesus, captured in the Beatitudes and developed in the Sermon on the Mount.
- Today in America, the widespread perception of Christianity -- one centered in nationalism, materialism and intolerance -- bears little resemblance to the life and teachings of Jesus, particularly as they concern justice, compassion, and peacemaking. We want to counter that. We are on a lifelong journey of reflection and action to turn this world upside down.
- We join together because we cannot do this work alone. We hope to be one part of a Christian revival that takes back our faith, emulating Jesus as he overturned the tables of the money changers in the Temple. As student members graduate and move out into the world to work, we hope to build a network of professional Christian leaders who will take the Beatitudes spirit into their ministries.
- We have no litmus test for membership other than a commitment to embody the teachings of Jesus, particularly as they concern justice, poverty and peacemaking, in our daily lives of studying, teaching, acting, and praying.
- We invite you to join us. Find out more about how we are turning the world upside down.
