When: January 16 - 21, 2009
Where: Epworth-by-the-Sea, St. Simons Island, GA
Who: January Adventure
The presidential election will be over and it will be time for us to consider, prayerfully and thoughtfully, how we as progressive Christians can help make the world a better place.
Richard Dawkins, the Oxford professor and atheist of note, said: “If subtle, nuanced religion predominated, the world would be a better place and I would have written a different book. The melancholy truth is that decent, understated religion is numerically negligible. Most believers echo Robertson, Falwell or Haggard, Osama bin Laden or
Ayatollah Khomeini. These are not straw men. The world needs to face them, and my book does so.”
We agree with Dawkins that “the world would be a better place”, and it is the goal of January Adventure to nudge his “negligible” up to at least “noticeable”. Come and help us.
